Nearly everything that went wrong had already been written down somewhere. Oman had a file on its pilot, the Home Office had one on the men it let stay, and Hamas printed obituaries for fighters that Gaza's journalist counts went on carrying anyway. Israel doesn't get to sit this one out — it had the crew list and didn't read it, and it's more or less stopped looking for its draft evaders.
Flash Brief: The Day in 90 Seconds or Less
Flydubai: Four Israelis retake a Dubai flight's cockpit from an Omani co-pilot who meant to crash it into Ben Gurion. See The War Today.

Gaza: The IDF works down Hamas's command from nearly forty new outposts, and Netanyahu says the ground stays. See The War Today.
October 7: Two Arab governments' warnings reach two American papers, and Netanyahu and Bar head for libel court. See Inside Israel.
The draft: The cabinet extends reserve call-ups by phone vote as Bnei Brak carries released deserters home behind a music truck. See Inside Israel.
The Hague: Dutch customs screen El Al passengers' bags for wine from Judea and Samaria, and Sa'ar pulls Dutch diplomats' credentials. See Israel and the World.
The press lists: The IDF says 170 of the Gaza dead counted as journalists served in Hamas and Islamic Jihad. See Israel and the World.
Manchester: Britain charges two Iranians with scouting a Heaton Park shul for a chlorine bomb prosecutors trace to Iran. See Israel and the World.
Force did what it was sent to do, in the strait and inside the Strip. What it can't do is pick Israel's next government, and almost everyone else with a stake, Hamas included, is timing their next move to that vote.
