Most of what's moving this morning is moving toward next week. Washington looks set to get its own election out of the way before it decides anything on Iran, and in Jerusalem the party leaders are spending the days before Herzog's consultations setting conditions. The Saudis would happily make the wait longer. Tehran's acting like the wait is already over.
Flash Brief: The Day in 90 Seconds or Less
Iran: CENTCOM's Cooper briefs Trump in person on resuming strikes, and at least ten US transports land at Ovda and Nevatim. See The War Today.
Hormuz: A small boat plants two charges on an outbound tanker, and the Revolutionary Guards claim three tankers hit mines. See The War Today.
Hebron: The army moves to demolish the Judea Junction gunmen's homes as Mount Hebron's council raises money for eight new sites. See The War Today.
The Qatar probe: The Shin Bet says no party gave it the intelligence, and anyone describing the suspicions doesn't speak for it. See Inside Israel.
The count: The final tally moves one seat, from Shas to Likud, and the blocs hold at 53 to 48. See Briefly Noted.
United Torah Judaism: A senior official says the party means to back Eisenkot for prime minister in exchange for a yeshiva exemption law. See Briefly Noted.
Majdal Shams: Turnout in the Golan's four Druze towns roughly doubles, and Yisrael Beytenu comes first in all four. See Briefly Noted.
The UN: Turkey reportedly readies Feridun Sinirlioglu to run for secretary-general against the Emirates' Lana Nusseibeh, who's campaigning on the Abraham Accords. See Israel and the World.
The book: Tucker Carlson's house publishes former Knesset Speaker Avraham Burg's Peace Is the Only Final Solution for Jews on 17 November. See Israel and the World.
Boulder: Soliman pleads guilty to federal hate crimes, and the plea lists Israeli national origin beside Jewish religion as his motive. See Israel and the World.
Australia: Jillian Segal, the antisemitism envoy, asks Canberra to screen visas for antisemitic views and unmask protesters. See Israel and the World.
The spy: Military prosecutors indict an IDF soldier who passed an Iranian handler details on the soldiers in his own unit. See Briefly Noted.
A fair amount of this morning could be ended by one party saying no. Washington can sink a Turkish run at the UN with one red ballot, and Simon & Schuster can stop distributing Carlson's book any time before the 17th. Neither has, yet. Smotrich, the finance minister, holds one of these too, and his decides whether gas goes up a shekel a liter next week.
