Americans vote today, and a few people in Jerusalem and Tehran have been waiting on the result as closely as anyone in Georgia. "Elections have results," Noam Sohlberg, the justice who chairs Israel's elections committee, wrote to Likud yesterday, about as plain a sentence as anyone in charge managed. Abroad, the ugliest things said about Israel come with an explanation attached now. A couple of the places hearing them have stopped accepting it.
Flash Brief: The Day in 90 Seconds or Less
Iran: A US jet destroys a Revolutionary Guards launcher on Qeshm, and Washington has reportedly struck Iran for weeks unannounced. See The War Today.
Tehran: Iran says it won't send its enriched uranium to a third country, and Qatari mediators fly in anyway. See The War Today.
Lebanon: Israel reportedly tells Beirut through American mediators that if Hezbollah joins Iran's round, the fighting in Lebanon starts again. See The War Today.
Jenin: Shin Bet and police break up a cell near Jenin that built a rocket body and ran three test launches. See The War Today.
Liberman: Liberman backs Eisenkot, putting him at 48 before Herzog's consultations open tomorrow, and rules out Netanyahu outright. See Inside Israel.
Certification: Likud asks the elections committee to hold the results for a Shin Bet briefing, and Sohlberg turns it down. See Briefly Noted.
The IDF: The Military Advocate General answers the NAZA documentary, and Border Police take down Ora Yisrael near Ariel. See Inside Israel.
Paris: Paris judges open a war crimes investigation into Israel's last Beirut strike before the 2024 Hezbollah ceasefire. See Israel and the World.
Tucker Carlson: His claim that a nuclear strike on Iran may be days away tops 45 million views, and Amanpour shares it. See Israel and the World.
The BBC: Management accepts Jeremy Bowen's explanation for telling a Glasgow audience last month that Gaza is a "genocide." See Israel and the World.
Labour: Labour orders its councillors out of power-sharing with the Greens in 11 councils over "Zionism is racism." See Israel and the World.
Philadelphia: Anti-Israel groups call a "Boycott Ride" against Jewish- and Israeli-owned businesses on the eve of Kristallnacht's anniversary. See Briefly Noted.
A Lebanese army being asked to put checkpoints in Hezbollah's own neighborhoods, a Jerusalem court that hasn't had an election appeal yet, a French judge still deciding what counts as evidence. That's where the next moves sit, and not one of them is in any hurry. What Israel holds is what it was already doing, the intelligence it keeps handing Washington and the months its investigators put into one cell outside Jenin.

Vantage: November 2026
A deadlocked Knesset leaves the war's biggest decisions with a caretaker cabinet, on a timetable Washington built around its own election.
Israel voted and ended up with the government it already had, and that government gets to decide whether to go to war with Iran.
